Volunteer Oppurtunities

The success of the festival has relied on a dedicated and enthusiastic team of volunteers. We are currently gearing up for our 1st edition, which will take place in July 2016, and we are looking for energetic, driven individuals who exhibit a diverse knowledge of genre cinema to participate as interns or volunteers in many exciting positions over this summer’s event.
 
We are looking for volunteers for the following positions:
1. Committee members - Knowledge of how to host/produce a film festival.
2. PR - Knowledge of PR work and how to spread the word about a film festival.
3. Film Screeners - Screen films of every genre to select the best films to be shown at the film festival.
4. Graphic Director - Part of the graphic department.
5. Sponsor Rep - Knowledge of how to obtain sponsorship.
6. Advertising Rep - Knowledge of advertisement submission (paid gig).
 
What to Expect as a Volunteer
You should expect to both work hard and have fun. A great deal of work must be done, but there is also time to make new friends and enjoy the festival.
 
To become a volunteer, you must attend a volunteer orientation meeting which will explain the roles and responsibilities of the volunteers and the positions available.
 
The benefits and perks of volunteering will be detailed in addition, as well as information about the festival. Feel free to bring others along with you - we will need hundreds of volunteers throughout the event!
 
What We Expect from Volunteers
As a volunteer, you are expected to arrive for your shift on time, dressed appropriately, ready to work, and with a good attitude. We expect volunteers to treat each other, festival patrons, and staff in the same manner that they would want to be treated: with a smile and courteous attitude at all times.

MARKETING & PR
Job description: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the Director of Marketing with research, grassroots efforts, and internet marketing strategies. This includes working with social media, flyer design, event promotion, etc., as well as researching, compiling, and updating media lists, tracking media hits, and archiving, During the festival, candidate will assist with the Press Room, distribute flyers, handle red carpet, social media, and more.

FILM DEPARTMENT
Job Description: The Film Department at CMFF runs the film competition and programs all of the films that play during the festival. This involves marketing the competition, screening the films, creating the film program, and working with/bringing in the filmmakers. In addition, the Film Department helps organize and market year-round events, including advance screenings and the Annual Audience Award Series.
Film Department interns will contribute to all aspects of the department, including marketing the film competition to increase entries, working with the Film Selection Committee to ensure films are being screened and evaluated properly, processing submissions and managing the submission database. These tasks will be coupled with a variety of assignments including researching filmmakers, working and attending year-round events, helping with mail-outs, and watching films.
A prospective intern should be comfortable with computers, especially Word and Excel, efficient, punctual, outgoing, and good with people.
Job Requirements: We are looking for self-starters and problem-solvers who are interested in film and event planning and want to work with a nationally-renowned film festival at the ground level. You will be watching film, thinking about film, and interacting with filmmakers.
